Living in Superior, Colorado: 2026 Neighborhood Guide
Superior sits right on the US-36 corridor between Boulder and Denver — about 8 miles southeast of Boulder and roughly 20 miles northwest of downtown Denver — with the Flatirons filling the view to the west. It is a small, trail-laced town that gives you a Boulder County address and Boulder Valley schools while keeping both cities within an easy drive. If that balance sounds right, here is what living in Superior, Colorado is like in 2026.
Why Superior
Scale is the appeal. Superior is home to about 13,637 residents, per the U.S. Census Bureau’s July 1, 2025 estimate, spread across just under four square miles in southeastern Boulder County. What fills the space between the homes is green: the Town of Superior counts 29.75 miles of trails, 13 playgrounds, and hundreds of acres of parks and open space, so a trailhead, a pocket park, or a wide-open Flatirons view is rarely more than a few minutes from any front door.
Everyday life is convenient, too. Shopping and dining cluster along McCaslin Boulevard on the town’s east side, the newer town center adds restaurants and community gathering space, and US-36 puts Boulder in one direction and Denver in the other.

Superior home prices by the numbers
Census figures frame Superior’s market — a largely built-out town where most housing is established neighborhoods from the 1990s and 2000s, plus newer construction around the town center:
• Median value of owner-occupied homes: $903,900 (U.S. Census Bureau, 2020–2024)
• Median household income: $159,434 (2020–2024)
• Median gross rent: $2,457 a month (2020–2024)
• Owner-occupied rate: 60.9%
• Mean travel time to work: 22.4 minutes
In practice, buyers see condos and townhomes near McCaslin Boulevard and the town center, a deep bench of single-family homes in the town’s master-planned neighborhoods, and larger custom-style homes in its luxury pockets. Because Superior is small, a single month’s median sale price can swing on just a handful of closings — price any home against its own neighborhood, not the townwide figure.
